We are very excited to be back for our third family concert in the centre of Wimbledon, which this year will be based around the familiar story of "A Christmas Carol". We will be performing a mixture of orchestral pieces well-known Christmas tunes, with chances to sing-a-long and perhaps for some of the smaller ones to see and hear a symphony orchestra for the very first time. 
  
We are welcoming back Leo Geyer to conduct and lead the musical festivities, and helping to lead the singing with Leo, will be mezzo-soprano, and 'Ghosts', Rachel Maby. You may remember Leo and Rachel as "The Nutcracker" and "The Sugar Plumb Fairy" from when they performed together in our first Christmas family concert in 2015. This year, we will also be joined by narrator Zeb Soanes, following his debut with WSO last year when he recounted the story of Peter and The Wolf which we performed as part of the Wimbledon International Music Festival. You may recognise Zeb's dulcet tones as he can be heard regularly reading the news and announcing on BBC Radio Four when not dressed as a wolf in Wimbledon.

The concert will feature short pieces by Brahms, Berlioz, Prokofiev and Rimsky-Korsakov as well as Christmas favourites including Sleigh Ride, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Silent Night and a few other surprises.

The concert will last approximately one hour and there will be no interval. We strongly recommend prebooking as last time this was a sell out! 

There will be two performances: The first at 2.00pm and the second at 4.00pm.

Tickets are unreserved, so do arrive early to get a good seat.

Benjamin Baker studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music where he was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rose Bowl. Over the last year Benjamin has given recitals throughout Europe including Wigmore Hall, The Sage Gateshead, Pedrera Hall Barcelona, St. John’s Smith Square, the Pärnu, Aegean Arts, Cheltenham, Northern Chords, East Neuk & Buxton Festivals, and appeared as soloist with the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company.

Born in Bulgaria, Michael Petrov also studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Louise Hopkins, winning the Gold Medal in 2014 and the Wigmore Hall Prize in 2017. He has given recitals throughout the UK, recent highlights including Wigmore Hall, the Plush, Peasmarsh and Bath Festivals.
